WILL THE LGBT FANS FACE A HARD TIME IN THE QATAR 2022 WORLD CUP?
LGBT fans brace themselves for the 2022 World Cup to be against them.
Qatar was given the privilege to host the 2022 World Cup in the year 2010. Many controversies revolve around this World Cup – the most perturbing one for fans being the LGBT controversy.
Qatari law is based on the Sharia law. According to Sharia, homosexuals are not equal to others. Being a homosexual in Qatar will result in seven years of imprisonment. Also, there is an indefinite amount of discrimination against homosexuals by the general public.
The status of homosexuality deemed as illegal resulted in a lot of media attention. The former FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, said, “I would say they should refrain from any kind of sexual activities”; he later added that “we do not want any discrimination”.
The delegates of various countries stated that Qatar is depriving the homosexuals of their right to watch the World Cup.
This led to further discussion on the same. But, there were a few inaccuracies stated by him which were corrected by the Executive Board (EB) and the delegates of other countries.
There was a controversy revolving Qatar which really affected the country and its worldwide position. The controversy stated that Qatar will conduct ‘screening tests to detect homosexuals and prevent them from entering the stadiums’.
But eventually, it was revealed that this was a proposal from Kuwait and not Qatar.
Currently, Qatar claims to be open to all- including homosexuals but this has limits as well. The Qataris will definitely not permit ‘sexual activities’ in the stadiums and in public. But this is proving unpopular among LGBT fans. They say they have all the rights to do as they wish as long as it does not hurt the others.
Discussions are going on whether or not to have the World Cup held in Qatar but the FIFA Council is yet to come to a consensus.  
The countries for Qatar- Russia, DPRK, Canada and many others- have clearly shown their support in the committee but have not been able to get the other countries on their side yet. The tension between the two sides- one for Qatar and one against Qatar- is perspicuously seen in the committee.
All things considered, the Qatar World Cup to be held in 2022 will be a long- lived, juicy topic of discussion because of the LGBT controversy and will be remembered for long after.
So, the question carries on:
Qatar or not?

It is a widely acknowledged fact that the United States conducts itself in a hypocritical manner, and contradicts itself repeatedly in international forums. The Disarmament and International Security Council proved to be no different, and the press conference revealed the double standards the government has for its citizens. The United States has conducted itself in an entirely unfit manner, but somehow, it remains unsurprising.
