China; A Hypocrite to the Very End

In the Disarmament International Security today, the delegate of China stated “Why would any state use cyber terrorism?” The irony of this statement blares out like a bright neon sign held two inches from one’s face. China is notoriously known for its increasing involvement in cyber crime, and the apparent hope of the international community’s ignorance of the fact seems to be the nation’s motivating factor in committee today.
Attacks on military agencies such as the Pentagon and even the National Nuclear Security Agency, which is responsible for the United States’ military stockpile, are at 10 million probes a day, an absolutely ridiculous number. And what’s worse, but not quite so shocking, is that China is at the epicenter of the attacks. The People’s Liberation Army has stolen blueprints for the F-22 and F-35 fifth-generation fighters which the US relies on heavily to establish air dominance; critical missile defense systems like the Navy’s Aegis and the Army’s Thermal High Altitude Area Defense ; vital combat aircraft like the F/A-18 fighter, the V-22 Osprey, and Black Hawk helicopter; and virtually the entire family of American drones. This only goes to indicate the obvious weakness in America’s security systems, which is continuously being exploited by China. China has also been the source of production of over 70% of counterfeit parts, all of which imitate parts of US weapons systems.
A report reveals that a force of over a hundred thousand cyber spies has been actively operating under the People’s Liberation Army of China and the Chinese Communist Party, the current ruling party. For a nation that believes that there are no reasons why states use cyber terrorism, it has an ironically large task force to do the very same
In the recent scandal regarding the alleged interference in the 2016 US elections, new evidence has come to light, suggesting that China may have had an important part to play. The nation allegedly had access to all of Hilary Clinton’s communications which took place through her private servers after intentionally planting a malware that copied emails in real time. These were forwarded to a Chinese owned company in real time. In fact, the Intelligence Community Inspector General warned the Federal Bureau of Investigation of a problem, saying that virtually all of Clinton’s emails were sent to an unnamed “foreign entity”. He has confirmed that the entity was entirely unrelated to Russia. The FBI failed to take any action whatsoever. The hacking was allegedly conducted as part of an intelligence operation conducted by China. US President Donald Trump tweeted on August 9:
 “Hilary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China. Next move better be by the FBI….or, after all the missteps, their credibility will be forever gone.”
And further went on to say
“Report just out: “China hacked Hilary Clinton’s private Email Sever”. Are they sure it wasn’t Russia (just kidding!)?”
It remains to be seen whether the allegations against China, which are similar to those against Russia, will be given the same level of attention.  
So what kind of credibility can we attribute to the delegate of China? In an international forum like the DISEC, should such blatant lies be encouraged?
The delegate has also gone on to propose the idea of having a body of ethical hackers (individuals who attempt to hack a system to locate weak spots or breaches) which is under the direct purview of the government, and later went on to say “We have a cyber-security team to protect cyber defense”. The Chinese Defense Ministry has confirmed the existence of an online defense unit in May 2011. Composed of about thirty elite internet specialists, the so-called "Cyber Blue Team" is officially claimed to be engaged in cyber-defense operations, though it has been said that the unit has been used to penetrate secure online systems of foreign governments. So even the Chinese defense unit is possibly involved in cybercrimes!
China continues to remain tight lipped, not only ignoring the allegations but letting other innocent nations take the fall for its heinous crimes. To reiterate “Why would any state use cyber terrorism?” ,China seems to have answered its own question.

These two blocs were the only two blocs in the DISEC general assembly. The working paper of the bloc headed by the delegate of the United States of America was sponsored by the delegate of South Korea, the delegate of Germany, the delegate of the United Kingdom and the delegate of France. The working paper of the delegate of China was sponsored by the delegate of Russia, delegate of Iraq, delegate of Iran, delegate of Nepal and delegate of DPRK. The delegate of USA stated that that the UN Security Council can make a sub-body who's members would be elected by the general assembly and would create an international cyber-code. United States; Divided Thoughts

It is a widely acknowledged fact that the United States conducts itself in a hypocritical manner, and contradicts itself repeatedly in international forums. The Disarmament and International Security Council proved to be no different, and the press conference revealed the double standards the government has for its citizens. The United States has conducted itself in an entirely unfit manner, but somehow, it remains unsurprising. When asked informally, the delegate of the US said that she would refuse to answer any questions in the press conference, so it came as a surprise when she spoke on gun control regulations within the US. The delegate stated that the American government believes that the ownership of guns gives its citizens much needed peace of mind, and protection.
