The rapid fire round of the assembly
During
the general assembly of the third session of the DISEC organ ,the
delegates of France, China and India were involved an interesting
segment. The delegate of India mentioned that the frequency of cyber
attacks is one every twelve minutes and how even though India was the
first country to get a cyber code it is one of most targeted
countries in the field of cyber-space.
Right
after this the delegate of China mentioned that India was one of the
first to get a cyber code and this would help the country prosecute
criminals. This prompted the delegate of France to question the
ability of the cyber-code if India's frequency if cyber-attacks is
one every twelve minutes. She asked, “How is the cyber-code going
to help at an international level if in India the rate of
Cyber-attacks is one every twelve minutes". This puzzled the
delegate of China who was temporarily shocked.
The
delegate recovered immediately and put forward a point that answered
the question precisely and justly. He said that the cyber-code would
allow the country and the world to put these criminals behind bars
and help other countries. He also described the need for a
international court and laws to help in the cause. This was widely
accepted by the other delegates.
This
is the cause for many of the cyber-attacks in a number of countries
and is the reason that the masterminds behind these attacks.
The
many things that the cyber-code would include are the availability of
quick reaction teams and heavily armed firewalls and teams of ethical
hackers who will be ready to act on sudden notice. This could help
make the field of cyber-space more peaceful and help countries that
are currently economically lagging to counter cyber-terrorism.
The
delegate of India said that India believes that the formation of a
international body to curb cyber-terrorism will help drastically
reduce the frequency of cyber-attacks and this coming from a country
with cyber-crimes occurring every twelve minutes was shocking.
During
an interview we asked the delegate about the scenario and these were
his answers.
When
questioned about his thoughts at that point in time he said, “I
knew that the question was coming and also knew what to say”
His
answer to the next question about his feelings at the point was, “I
was not intimidated but was actually happy that I was asked about
it”.
The
answer to the last question about the question of the delegate of
France the delegate of China said, “ I was prepared for the
question and was ready to give an answer”.
The
delegate of Mexico commented on the above interview saying, “ The
delegate of China is an exceptional speaker and can put across his
point very effectively”
The
delegates of South Africa and Tajikistan said the following
respectively: "the delegate of China efficiently portrays his
country's feelings on any point of information he faces” and “The
delegate of China got his point to all the other delegates of the DISEC committee and expressed the conflicts in his country in
cyber-terrorism effectively. The other delegates of Switzerland said,
“The delegate of China knows how to put his point across”.
